Year 7

Key Information for Year 7 Students in September 2023

On the first day of term (Wednesday 6th September) Year 7 students should go to the main hall for 8.40am. There will be staff located around the school site to direct students if they cannot remember where this is.

The order for the first day is as follows:

  • Arrival - 08:30
  • Year 7 Assembly - 08:40 to 09:10
  • Period 1 (with Form Tutor) - 09:10 to 10:10
  • Period 2 (lessons as per timetable) - 10:10 to 11:10
  • Break - 11:10 to 11:30
  • Period 3 (lessons as per timetable) - 11:30 to 12:30
  • Period 4 (lessons as per timetable) - 12:30 to 13:30
  • Lunch - 13:30 to 14:15
  • Period 5 (lessons as per timetable) - 14:15 to 15:15

From Thursday 7th September, student's day will run as per their timetable all day. Prefects from Year 11 will be around to help escort student groups to lessons whilst they learn their timetables.

In order to prepare for the new academic year, uniform can be purchased from Baldwins in Halsted or via their online shop at https://www.baldwins-departmentstores.com/hedingham-schoolwear .

PE Kits – Year 7 students will not need to bring in their PE kits on the first day. If students do end up having PE on their first, this will not require them to change. From Thursday 7th September, students should ensure they bring their PE kit on days when they are scheduled to have PE lessons.

Parental access to the Arbor Parent Portal will be available during the summer so you can continue to add/update any student/guardian information as you need to during this period. Parents can log into the Arbor Parent Portal here: https://hedingham-school-and-sixth-form.uk.arbor.sc/. You can also download the Arbor Parent App from your respective App Store (Google Play - Android, iOS Store - Apple).

Students will gain access to the Arbor Student Portal in their first week at Hedingham. They will be guided on how to use this to access digital copies of their timetables.

Students can bring pack lunch into school or use the canteen at break and lunch, on the first day, students will have their pictures taken for use with the Facial Recognition Catering software. Parents can place money onto ParentPay in advance in order to top-up students catering balance.

If you child needs to use a school bus to get into school, please apply to Essex County Council for a bus pass. The school does not have any direct control over busses to/from the school, we simply work with the council to facilitate the loading/unloading of bus services.
