Ofsted Report 2023

I am delighted to share with you our recent Ofsted Report conducted on the 2 and 3 March 2023. The overall judgement is that ‘Hedingham School and Sixth Form continues to be a good school’. This is great news for the school and the community.

The educational climate has been extremely challenging over the last few years and all members of the school community have worked very hard to provide our students with a ‘good’ educational experience. The outcome is the right endorsement for this school and I am pleased Ofsted have recognised this.

The inspection itself was carried out under Section 8 of the Education Act 2005. This is explained in the report but fundamentally the purpose of the inspection is to confirm that the school continues to meet the expectations of a good school. Therefore, we continue to be a ‘good’ school in all sections of the Ofsted judgement criteria.

Ofsted identified the Personal Development curriculum as an area of development which aligns alongside our own school improvement plans. As explained in the report, the academic curriculum is well-designed, providing a coherent and progressive journey for our students. Teachers deliver this well. Therefore, the aim is to adopt the same rigorous approach for the delivery of our Personal Development sessions. We have already made encouraging progress in this area over the last year.

In the feedback from Ofsted, they wanted to highlight that students talk very positively about their experiences at Hedingham School, typified by the comment ‘the school values shape us into adults’.
