Curriculum Implementation

Our lessons are timetabled within a 50-period fortnight. Each day begins with a 30-minute Personal Development lesson which includes a weekly assembly. Students enjoy their learning and we see this evidenced within classrooms and during extra-curricular activities.

Our curriculum remains as broad and balanced as possible for Years 7, 8 and 9 but is narrowed in Year 10 to allow students to specialise in chosen subject areas. The guided choice process starts in the Spring Term of Year 9 ready for the following September.

All leaders take responsibility for their subject curriculum intent and implementation and constantly monitor to ensure that high standards of engagement and learning are maintained.

Every student at Hedingham School studies a broad and balanced curriculum. It is our belief that students should be offered the opportunity to study a wide variety of subjects for as long as possible before narrowing their studies and selecting optional subjects for GCSE's.

Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 & 9)
