Photography - Curriculum Intent

In Photography, we endeavour to develop your creativity and enhance your love of taking interesting and thought-provoking pictures. You get the opportunity to engage with projects which will teach you how to create photographs in the following mediums: portrait photography; still-life photography; surrealism photography; street/documentary photography; landscape photography and many many more!

We have a range of lighting that you can experiment with to create emotionally deriving photographs, as well as our own well-equipped photography studio which is ideal for creating amazing portrait photographs!

Some of our projects include experimentation with costumes and make-up. We have dynamic lessons where we experiment food dye, nail varnish and completing scavenger hunts of photographs from around the school.

You will have the opportunity to work with students from the lower school in Photography Club where you can help encourage their artistic tendencies and enhance their ideas with your expertise.

Excitingly, we run a trip to New York every Easter, where you can indulge in your urban photography skills as well as engage in a number of exciting opportunities which will enhance your skills.

Finally, we look at the many jobs that you could get with gaining a qualification in Photography which can earn you quite a good wage. This includes teaching you the skills that you will need to become a wedding photographer (where you could earn £1500 a day); or a product photographer for catalogues (which you could earn between £100-£250 a day) as well as inspire your creative side where you could put on your work into an exhibit!
