Year 10 Football Match Report

After a day of excellent football with ex professional footballer, George Elokobi, our Year 10 team played against a tough and resilient New Rickstones side. The team started slowly and found themselves 2-0 down early in the game. A penalty brilliantly won by Toby was dispatched by Koby to give the team hope again. Swiftly after, a great team goal was finished with great composure by Seb and the team was back level at 2-2. Minutes later, New Rickstones broke quickly down the left-hand side and capitalised on the overload with a goal. With very few minutes to go until half time the resilient Hedingham team did not drop their heads when Danny broke down the right wing, whipped the ball in and found, again, a lurking Seb waiting to tap the ball into the gaping net for a much-needed goal. After an eventful 35 mintues, at half time it was Hedingham 3-3 New Rickstones.

The second half got under way in the howling wind and drizzly rain under the floodlights. The boys were determined to end the magnificent day on a high note and did so when Finley broke through the defence of New Rickstones and exquisitely finished into the bottom left corner. For the first time in the game, we found ourselves in front. After a difficult and tough last 15 minutes, the challenge was overcome and with some outstanding saves by George. The team got all 3 points coming out of the game 4-3 victors. We’re so excited for the next game against Alec Hunter and can’t wait to see what the team can do.
