Christmas Concert 2009

Hedingham School Music Department hosted its annual Christmas Concert on Wednesday 16 th December, delighting the audience with a huge variety of music. The evening was kick-started with the School Orchestra’s energetic rendition of ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ by Grieg. The first half also included a performance by the Allsorts Primary Choir (Years 5-8) who did sign language to Cliff Richard’s Mistletoe and Wine. The Whole School Choir closed the first half with two traditional Christmas Carols, after a spectacular, choreographed performance by the Samba Band, led by Perry James in Year 9.

The second half was opened by a beautiful trumpet solo of Once in Royal David’s City. A group of year 9 boys then rocked the stage with a Red Hot Chilli Peppers classic, showing the true diversity of the music students. Then on came the Girls’ Vocal Group with a close-harmony, humorous arrangement of The Twelve Days of Christmas. Nearing the end of the evening, Sarah Branwhite performed a virtuosic Vivaldi violin piece, followed by a banjo duet, a first for Hedingham! The Blues Band had their debut performance, showing off their fantastic improvising skills. The concert was brought to a close by the Whole School Choir’s emotional performance of Something Inside So Strong.

Miss Wood and Mr Cull would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff, parents, friends and families who attended the concert, and particularly a big thank you to all the students who took part. You were fantastic!
